MCG Sports Museum - Juddy Roller - Street Art Australia

MCG Sports Museum

Mural / Jaw

A Mark in Time

In the much-anticipated lead up to the 124th season of the AFL, Juddy Roller has been working intensely alongside the talented French artist JAW to create a 3.6 by 4.8 metre mural for the MCG’s Australian Sports Museum. To commemorate the comradery, spirit and friendship of a sport spanning over a hundred years, JAW used references taken out of the book “100 Years of Australian Football”, which was kindly gifted from the MCG themselves- sorting through one thousand pictures of historical and modern highlights that weave together the bold and empowering moments throughout AFL sporting history.

Within the mural, references to old football logos, branding, uniforms and the ever-loving audience barracking their favourite teams are displayed together in blend of graphic, photo-realistic and abstract composition. From humble grassroots beginnings to developing into Australia’s elite, national sport, JAW and Juddy Roller pay homage to a game that Australia has cheered on for over a century.

Recently opened in March 2020, the Australian Sports Museum features memorabilia from some of the country’s largest sporting heroes and celebrates moments that have shaped sporting history as we know it.
