Juddy Roller teamed up with Melbourne’s biggest artists to create a “socially distanced” “Artcade” in the heart of Melbourne. The likes of Rekko Rennie, Rone, Adnate, Lisa King, George Rose, John Aslanidis, Caleb Wamlsey (Mayonaise), and Meggs, have all created immersive art installations designed to be viewed through the massive windows of the brand new retail shops located on the ground floor of a major new development, West Side Place, located at 250 Spencer St, which is launching to the public on 20th July 2020. Think Myers Christmas windows on steroids, and created by Melbourne’s top Urban and Contemporary artists, and not just window displays, but entire shops. With the retail precinct being entirely dedicated to art, the project is a welcome beacon for the arts industry, which was swiftly decimated with the arrival of covid-19, with most traditional galleries forced to shut their doors. Far East Consortium, in conjunction with Juddy Roller, are exploring what the term “art gallery” could mean in a post COVID world.
