Ears – Tree Spirits

Tree Spirits was a culmination of work that Ears produced during a month long residency at Juddy Roller, using the entire gallery space as his studio to produce a mix of large format and smaller mixed media paintings on canvas and wood panel.

Tree Spirits delivered a series of imagined landscapes that reference mountainous Australian bush lands, accompanied by floating portraits warped by playful line work offset by sparse graphic elements.

In this, his latest body of work, Ears uses bold colours and geometric lines to create compositions born of a street context yet taken further into ideas of symmetry and form, utilising the tension between the man made world and the natural environment.

Slicer – Trance

Prolific Melbourne graffiti artist and abstract painter SLICER presents TRANCE, an exploration of dimensionality, hypnosis and the psyche through his signature expressive mark making. Works on canvas, paper, plastic and wood reveal the state of the artist’s mind at the intersection of conscious technical application and subconscious receptivity to nature and music.

John Aslanidis & Mayonaize – Intersection

Intersection is a collaborative exhibition between John Aslanidis and Mayonaize.

Aslanidis’ work explores a sensory dimension which exists between sound and vision, whereas graffiti has been a major influence on Mayonaize’ s eclectic oeuvre.

The contrasting approaches result in unique images that merge to become a fusion of sonic vibrations and calligraphic improvised text derived from graffiti.

Lucy Lucy – Elle

Elle is a collective representation of the universal feminine archetype. As a woman, She is femininity divided.

We glimpse her many facets through her various portrayals, though the lines that separate her identities are blurred. Each persona, culture and story is enmeshed and intertwined to accentuate the figure they represent; strength, grace, and beauty embodied.

Lucy’s work attempts to capture the evolving folklore of the feminine, exploring the diversity and boundaries of heritage.

Whether a sovereign queen, a mystic sorceress, a youthful muse, or a charismatic lady, all share in the art and privilege of being a woman.
